Role & Project Summary

  •  Multiple Rates of Pay - Bulk Upload

  • How to add multiple job costing codes at one time instead of manually one by one in the platform
  • Uploading multiple rates of pay for multiple people into the application
  • Bulk upload had been worked on by another designer for another feature in another part of the application. The basics of how this could work were already laid out by her, and we took the models she used and reworked them to make them address our use case

Project Constraints

  • Bulk upload of multiple rates of has the possibility to save users a lot of time in the setup process if done correctly.

  • We need to guide the users to understand how to do this with introducing as few errors to the system as possible
  • We believe that users need a seamless way to add multiple job codes to a multiples users in the product instead of having to do long workarounds
  • We made each entry its own line - so one user may have 3 lines in the upload file, but will be merged based on SSN

Summary

Administrators can successfully upload and assign multiple rates of pay to multiple users with a single file

We understand how a bulk upload would work, as we had not introduced this to any other point in the UI to date

Handling bulk uploads of job codes - for both single and multiple rates of pay - had the most complexity with how to handle errors upon upload. In addition multiple rates of pay had the issue of how we would track multiple rates of pay against a single user

With help from the development team we mapped multiple lines that included multiple rates to a single user by mapping their SSN
