NetBase

NetBase delivers the social intelligence that global brands and agencies use to publish, monitor, analyze and engage with customers in real time. Using a high-precision natural language processing (NLP) engine, our platform processes billions of social media posts to extract structured insights delivered via customizable dashboards. Our solutions enable digital marketing, public relations, brand management, customer service, sales, and product innovation leaders to craft winning strategies faster.

Role & Project Summary

  • Real time reporting dashboard that allows social media analysts to share information outside the enterprise platform

  • A major global retailer needed a way to share information with their managers and C-Level employees without giving them access to the raw data in the main platform
  • Managers and C-Levels will have one simple place to view data and will not have to ask analysts to gather the data for them
  • Dashboard allows non analyst users access to relevant data as determined by the social media analyst, thereby reducing the need for someone to fully understand the complex enterprise platform
  • The original idea of the dashboard was to simply give a snapshot view of a saved search or topic via email only. As we continued to work with the client who requested the feature, we realized making a page where people could see the information more as a dashboard as well would both give more visibility to the data but also allow users more flexibility in how they received it

Project Constraints

  • This dashboard has to be able to share data with people who are not familiar with, and have no need to be in, the enterprise level platform.
  • This was built to share snapshots of data with C-Level employees
  • We believe analysts within the platform will benefit from this dashboard by reducing the time they need to take building reports for other teams
  • We believe non enterprise users who use this dashboard will have more insight into social data and will reduce the need for requests to analysts for data
  • In talking to the customer we were building this for, the general user within their company was going to be a C-Level executive. When designing this as a general feature we used this user as the ideal user because they did not have a lot of subject matter knowledge and just needed to digest the data quickly and regularly

Summary

  • In talking to the customer we were building this for, the general user within their company was going to be a C-Level executive. When designing this as a general feature we used this user as the ideal user because they did not have a lot of subject matter knowledge and just needed to digest the data quickly and regularly
  • We built this for one large, specific, retail client. Therefore the assumptions that were made on this project was that what we were building specifically for their needs would translate to other users
  • As this was being built for one specific client, we also presented this in process idea to other clients who appreciated it and gave us additional feedback to build into it
  • We decided to make it more a live dashboard because that seemed to fit the use case given to us by our major client more than a static page did.
  • Working on a feature for just one customer while trying to make sure it will work for many customers can be complicated
  • Feature successfully adopted by client requesting and added to overall product offering
