Kaiser Permanente is committed to helping shape the future of health care recognized as one of America's leading health care provider.

Role & Project Summary

  • Early concept for KP telemed

  • We were exploring the idea of how a telemed platform would work into the existing My Doctor Online (MDO) platform
  • This was just an exploration of an idea, nothing concrete was expected from it
  • The exploration of telemed allowed us to see into the future easier
  • We originally placed the telemed flow within the doctor's individual pages. However, we felt that at scale that could be really cumbersome to keep up to date so instead we worked from the idea we'd have a launch button on the doctor's pages that would lead to a single telemed flow that you could then select your doctor from, if you came to the page directly, or would pass your doctor's information through if you came from an individual doctor's page

Project Constraints

  • This was a simple exploration of how something could function within an existing platform. There was no need to have formal structure or guides on this project as it was just a skunkworks exploration at the time
  • The general consensus, since this at the time was an exploration and not a concrete project, was we didn't know. Telemed wasnt a thing within the company yet, and because of that we could expand our horizons and design the way we wanted

Wireframes

Example

At the beginning of my design process I created wireframes for testing purposes.

Guiding Questions

  • Why was it useful to do this?
  • What kind of wireframes did you make?
  • Low fidelity or high fidelity?
  • What tool did you use for this?
  • Did you use them for testing?
  • How many iterations did you have?

Summary

  • This is the concept we explored as this was basically a skunkworks project to explore how to bring additional technology into the MDO platform. There was no solid background in confirming this idea was valid, however this was not the purpose of this project.
  • Since this was just a concept, the technical constraints were not fully known therefore we designed our ultimate experience
  • We made some assumptions on technology stack based on the stacks of the products we already designed (My Doctor Online) and we worked forward with the assumption when designing this concept that it would be housed on something similar just to get us going on exploring the concept
  • Working on concept ideas without any level of constraints is not something I am particularly good at. I like working on ideas within some set of parameters
